Registrations are open for 7^th Edition of the Vision Science University of Minho Summer School (VisSciUM2024). You can take the Full Course or Isolated courses (see Registration and Fees section in the end).

This program, integrated by 3 different courses, can be attended in different formats:

Summer School (no ECTS): can register for individual courses (5 days/each, see dates below), or individual sessions (1 day).

Isolated Courses (5 ECTS/each): must register and complete for individual courses (5 days/each, see dates below), subjected to evaluation.

Target: Post-graduate students (Master or PhD Students) in the field of Vision Science, Optics, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Engineering and other connected fields with interest in Visual Optics, Clinical Research or Visual Electrophysiology.

European Regulation of Medical Devices (MDR).
Statistical analysis and machine learning tools applied to research in vision.
Systematic Review and Appraisal tools.
Meta-analysis of published literature.
Practical work with statistical computational tools and meta-analysis software
Practical work with machine learning tools

Visual optics applied to research and clinical practice.
Optical design of intra-ocular lenses and contact lenses.
Image quality metrics for objective assessment of visual performance.
Optical design of myopia management devices.
Clinical performance of advanced intra-ocular lens designs.
Practical work with computational tools and raytracing software
Practical work with optical metrology devices

Visual electrophysiology in myopia research
International Standards for Clinical Electrophysiology (ISCEV) guidelines
Clinical electrophysiology in common and rare congenital and acquired eye conditions
Macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of the human retina and its electrical activity
Practical classes with electroretinography techniques
Practical classes with visual evoked potentials techniques

Language: Portuguese and English depending on Students preference (simultaneous translation through Zoom platform might be available).

Dates: 17^th June 2024 – 12^th July 2024 (13:00-17:00 Lisbon-London Time Zone to facilitate participation from different time zones and adapt to the working context)
